Cut.In, Students' Film Festival
Cut.In, organized by students of the Centre for Media and Cultural Studies is a one of a kind film festival that attempts to create a space for young filmmakers to gather and exchange ideas on contemporary film making and for all to experience the young filmmakers' film world. The competition is for short documentaries, short films, public service messages and music videos. A student Jury from CMCS culls out films which are screened in Cut.In of which a jury comprising of prominent film makers award Gold and Silver in the 4 categories, and also declare the prize winners for the best cinematography, editing and sound design.
Cut.In, Students' Film Festival, 8-9 January, 2011
The 3rd edition the student Film Festival organized by students of the Centre for Media and Cultural Studies was held on the 8th and 9th January 2011. Cut.In - has drawn a total of 107 entries from student filmmakers across the country. The film festival is open to student filmmakers, and has drawn the attention of around 25 film and television schools like FTII, Pune, IIT Guwahati, L V Prasad Film and TV Institute, Chennai, AJK -MCRC Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, NID Ahmedabad, SRFTI, Kolkata.
The competition was for short documentaries, short films, public service messages and music videos produced between 15th December, 2009 to 15th November 2010. A jury comprising of prominent filmmakers Mr.Praveen Kumar and Ms.Chandita Mukherjee and Prof. K.P.Jayashankar adjudicated the prize winners in these categories and for the best cinematography, editing and sound design as well from 33 films shortlisted for screening during the 2-day festival.
Acclaimed filmmaker Shyam Benegal kindly consented to be the guest of honor on the 8th of January and address the gathering of students filmmakers. Eminent filmmaker Kundan Shah kindly accepted to be the guest of honor for the 9th of January.
